What is it
The papers showing that you work and what you earn: your contract, the payslip your employer must hand you each time you are paid, and the attestations an employer writes on request.
Do I need it
Yes for permit renewals, rental files and most applications that test your income, which ask for recent payslips and proof that the job is continuing.
When
A payslip comes with every salary payment. Ask for an attestation when a specific procedure calls for one.

From your employer. Permit files that rest on them are lodged online on the ANEF portal.

- Payslips are normally issued electronically; you can refuse that and ask for paper instead.
- You can contest what a payslip says for 3 years after it was given to you, and your employer must keep its own copy for 5 years.
