bulletin de paie et cotisations sociales
The bulletin de paie is the statement an employer must give with your salary, showing gross pay, the social contributions taken off, and what reaches your account. If you work for yourself instead, you declare the business and pay those contributions to Urssaf.
Every employee gets a payslip. Read it if you want to know where your gross salary went, and keep it — it is asked for constantly by landlords, banks and prefectures.
A payslip comes with each salary payment. A self-employed activity is declared when you start it.
Payslips come from your employer, on paper or electronically. A new business is declared on the Guichet unique, and Urssaf handles the contributions afterwards.
Urssaf states a Siret arrives about 15 days after declaring, and the notification d'affiliation in 4 to 10 weeks.
- Your payslip shows the "montant net social" and the "net à payer avant impôt sur le revenu", the line printed larger than the rest.
- You can challenge a payslip for 3 years from the day it was given to you.
- A new auto-entrepreneur receives a Siret, then an affiliation notice, then opens an account on autoentrepreneur.urssaf.fr to declare turnover and pay contributions.
Nothing to renew. An auto-entrepreneur declares turnover every month or quarter, even when it is zero.
