A duplicate is subject to a tax, whose amount depends on the permit. Some categories, including refugees, are exempt.
- Asking for a duplicate invalidates the original permit for good, and the step cannot be undone.
- The duplicate keeps the same expiry date as the permit it replaces.
A récépissé for a first application runs 4 or 6 months and can be extended up to 3 months; one issued for a renewal or a duplicate runs 3 months from the day after the old card expires.
