FranceConnect

The state's single sign-on: it vouches for who you are using an account you already hold, so one login opens more than a thousand public online services.

It is not a procedure in itself, but several portals expect it — the ANTS vehicle registration service, for one, asks you to sign in through FranceConnect.

Whenever you first meet a site offering the "S'identifier avec FranceConnect" button. There is nothing to set up in advance beyond holding one of the accounts it accepts.

Online, at franceconnect.gouv.fr and on the login screen of any partner service.

• You pick a provider and sign in with those credentials; the partner service receives your verified identity.
• A history log records every connection and data exchange, and you can disconnect at any time from your account settings.
